A Foundation for Learning
What’s New at Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools
From the first day of kindergarten, until they walk across the graduation stage, our top priority at the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools is to ensure students have every opportunity possible to reach their full potential.
While tax dollars cover the basic costs of our public schools, there still are unmet needs. That’s where we come in. The Foundation raises funds for opportunities outside of what is already budgeted. We fund a wide range of projects and needs that enrich learning at LPS — everything from funding field trips to helping families in crisis, and so much more.
Here are some of the ways we support students, families, and educators at our schools.
Emergency Assistance
In partnership with school social workers, families can request funds for items like bus passes, medicine, help with car repairs, etc.
Fund A Need
An online platform for teachers, Fund a Need allows educators to easily create campaigns to crowdsource funds for special classroom projects.
Activities & Registrations
We work with teachers and staff members to provide funds for students to enter competitions, attend special performances, and access resources that further enhance the learning happening in the classroom.
Athletic and Activity Uniforms & Fees
Extracurriculars are an important part of the high school experience. We work with donors and LPS to provide assistance for equipment, uniforms, and other fees associated with extracurricular activities to level the playing field for those in need.
Driver’s Education
The Foundation for LPS can cover the cost of driver’s education classes to ensure that students who want to learn how to drive can do so.
Focus Programs
The Foundation funds unique experiences that are focused on their interests to help hone students’ technical skills. These partnerships with Southeast Community College, The Bay, UNL, Bryan Health, and more give students a head start on their career through dual credit, and challenge them to think bigger.
Scholarships
We offer scholarships for graduating LPS seniors. The application process is fast and streamlined – apply for 90+ Foundation scholarships with one form.
GoPro Hours
GoPo Hours are a great way to get involved in the community. Volunteering for the Foundation is easy, and most of all, flexible.
Alumni Services
We offer alumni services through our website. Even after your student graduates, we offer services like our reunion calendar and feature stories about alumni.
Special Project Funding
Does your student have a project they need funding to complete? The Foundation has funds to help with project research and costs.
Last year we served 39,890 students
and 6,604 staff members
at 60 schools
and distributed to district schools $1.5 million
If you can, consider donating to the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools. Strong schools build strong communities. Helping students reach their potential not only makes a difference in their life, but helps strengthen our city.
