Get in the Game

My name is Lincoln. I’d like to give you my opinion on video games and a little about a few that I think most people will love. To me, video games are great mostly for having fun, but also for learning new things and solving problems. I have learned a lot of from playing video games and watching others play. Here are a few of my favorites! These titles are all available at Lincoln City Libraries too.

The Legend of Zelda:
Breath of the Wild

Breath of the Wild is a fantastic open world game that allows the player to create their own experience whether they want to do the main story, defeat monsters, or just have fun exploring the open world.

This game is available on the WiiU and Nintendo Switch.

Recommended for ages 12+.

Is the downloadable content (DLC) worth it for most of the Breath of the Wild fans? Yes, if you love and put hours into this game, the DLC will give you hours more to come. Trial of the Sword will even upgrade your strongest weapon, the master sword! There is so much more too. You won’t be disappointed.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Super Smash Bros. is a great game where you can battle with or against friends, test your skills against computer controlled  players (CPU), or play in fun yet challenging stages in The World of Light.

This game is available on the Nintendo Switch.

Recommended for ages 8+.

The DLC for Super Smash Bros. introduces new characters such as Min Min from Arms, Joker from Persona 5, and many more.
Some Amiibos in Smash will be
a character that you get to train to fight.

Minecraft

Minecraft is a game where you can survive, collect materials, and explore the infinitely-generated terrain, whether it be alone or with friends. You can go in creative mode and build huge structures, or even learn about redstone and the endless possibilities of it. If you are into coding, you can also create your own custom features. The possibilities with Minecraft are really endless. I know people who are building replicas of their cities. How fun would it be to team up and build the city of Lincoln in Minecraft?!

This game is available on desktop, mobile, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and Playstation.

Recommended for ages 7+.

Many people like me love to play video games on a daily basis. If you’re looking to try something new, there are some new games coming out soon that I think you should know about. Splatoon 3 on Sept. 9, Mario and Rabbids Sparks of Hope on Oct. 20, and Breath of the Wild 2 in spring 2023 are some to look forward to.  Happy gaming!
